BSc, Post Grad Dip Sci, PhD, JP Malcolm Macpherson is a local government politician (Mayor of the Central Otago District, in New Zealand), communicator and writer with a long-time professional interest in organisational excellence. He’s a veteran assessor/examiner for New Zealand's Performance Excellence Study Award, a national government/private enterprise partnership closely based on the US Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. He's always interested in talking about new projects and interesting proposals - here's a more detailed resume/cv. By all means email if you've got anything to suggest, ask or propose! Where did the idea for Baldrigeplus.com come from? "In March 1999 I was fortunate to accompany a New Zealand touring party comprised of the 1998 BDQA winners, with team leader and program manager Errol Slyfield, on visits to eight Baldrige winners in the US. "We visited all three 1998 winners — Boeing Airlift and Tanker Programs at Long Beach, CA; Solar Turbines in San Diego, CA; and the Texas Nameplate Company in Dallas, TX — as well as IBM at Rochester and 3M Dental at St Paul in MN; Raytheon at Lewisville, TX; Solectron’s headquarters at Milpitas, CA; and Granite Rock, of Watsonville, CA. "For some time I’d been working with the idea of an added value Baldrige product, designed to aid completion of Baldrige applications, assist those using the criteria to drive business improvement, and especially to help make the Baldrige approach more accessible to newcomers and to students of the topic. "The US trip crystallized those ideas, provided a large collection of vivid case study material, and motivated me to start on the project. "Baldrigeplus is the result!"
